Disney World Eats
My First Trip to Walt Disney World
And EVERYTHING I ate (aka the main reason I wanted to go)
RESORTS
Port Orleans French Quarter Sassagoula Float Works
Lunch @ Beyond Meat burger (vegan) with fries & slaw.
Breakfast @ Port Orleans Riverside Hotel
Bounty Platter with GF/vegan Mickey waffles (I special requested these), bacon, & eggs; I added banana and a peanut butter packet that I brought from home to the waffles.
Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show @ The Polynesian Resort
Mixed Greens w/ Ginger-Lime Dressing, Pineapple Coconut Bread, Soba Noodle Salad, & Pineapple. The main course consisted of aloha pulled pork, roasted chicken, and roasted veggies. Finally, Pineapple-Coconut Guava Cake for dessert.
Hoop-Dee-Do Revue Dinner Show @ Fort Wilderness
This place has the BEST cornbread and honey butter which is weird because I usually hate cornbread. The menu consisted of baked beans, fried chicken, and ribs all of which I did not feel comfortable eating. I asked if they had any not meat options (aka healthier) and our waiter said there was an option for grilled salmon and veggies! SCORE! Ask and you shall receive, my friends.
Ample Hill Creamery @ Disney's Boardwalk
This cute boutique ice cream shop is from Brooklyn, NY and has some of the most unique, but delicious ice cream flavors. I got "PB wins the Cup" which is their vanilla ice cream with peanut butter chocolate flakes and homemade PB cups in a chocolate chip cookie cone. YUM!
DISNEY SPRINGS (not a resort but close enough)
We went to a Cuban restaurant called Bongo's and although pricey, it was delicious. I got the appetizer tuna tartar as an entree and had a side of veggies with it. SO good!
MAGIC KINGDOM
Lunch @ Columbia Harbour House
Grilled salmon platter with veggies and cous cous.
Snack @ Aloha Isle
DOLE WHIP! VEGAN AND DELICIOUS! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!
Dinner @ Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Just a falafel patty on a bun with fries on the side...nothing too special but it's a good plant based lunch/dinner option.
Snack @ Frontierland Churro Cart
I couldn't leave Magic Kingdom without one of these bad boys.
EPCOT
Lunch @ Katsura Grill (Japan Pavilion)
Spicy Seafood ramen with shrimp, crab, and veggies in a miso broth with a side of edamame and iced green tea #yum
Snack @ Les Halles Boulangerie-Patissere (French Pavilion)
Macaron with raspberries and a lime custard....I am drooling just thinking about this.
Early Dinner @ La Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico Pavilion)
Fish tacos + guacamole - the tacos were lightly battered with a slaw on top...not too shabby.
Hollywood Studios
Lunch @ Backlot Express
Galactic Chicken Salad with Fries - Mixed Greens topped with Grilled Chicken Breast, Crisp Wontons, Black Bean Relish and Avocado served with Vinaigrette Dressing.
Snack @ Hollywood Studios
MICKEY ICE-CREAM!!!!!!! (not the easiest to eat but it was well worth it)
Animal Kingdom
Lunch AND Dinner @ Satu'li Canteen in Pandora
This was probably the best food I had during my trip. Like it was SO good. So good that I got both lunch and dinner there. For lunch, I got a base of sweet potato hash, sustainable white fish filet, chimichurri, and slaw. For dinner, I got their hearty salad base with crispy tofu. As for the dessert, it is a work of art–blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse with Passion Fruit Curd. For a quick service restaurant, I was very impressed.
Snack @ one of the little ice cream carts (do they have a name?)
For those hot days when you don't want ice cream, a frozen chocolate covered banana is the perfect option...except people might look at you a little funny while eating it. (Get your head out of the gutter, people!!)
That's all, folks!
I have to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at Disney. I also was surprised with now accommodating they were–it was annoying to have to wait longer for those allergy friendly options but it's better than nothing. As for me? I don't feel as bad as I expected after a week of not working out and not eating all of my veggies. I feel slightly dependent on sugar from one too many treats at the parks but it was 100% worth it.Over all, I'd say I had a successful first trip to Disney World but I am not sure the next time I'll be back. A beach vacation or traveling somewhere exotic is much more my speed.
